Plugging High Emitting Orphaned Oil Wells
Orphaned wells are defined as unplugged, not producing and have no responsible owner/operator. Most of the previous owner/operators are long-gone! Either bankrupt or other. Many of these orphaned wells have been left in a state of disrepair and have not been maintained for decades; Some are continuously leaking uncontrolled quantities of methane into the atmosphere 24-7-365.
By first finding and then plugging the most offensive orphaned wells we not only prevent these harmful emissions, but we also generate high-quality, durable carbon offsets derived from projects that are directly measuring and permanently stopping methane emissions. These is no guesswork about the amount of CO2(e) that has been eliminated!
